Ellen and John Gallant

John and Ellen (Murphy) Gallant celebrate 70 years of marriage on Aug. 2, 2011.

They were married on Aug. 2, 1941 at St. James Catholic Church in Haverhill, beginning a long, happy life, full of love and family. They are blessed with eight children, 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, to whom they have given a constant example of loving perseverance and zest for life.

A cookout to honor the day is planned at the home of Julie Gallant Veilleux and her husband, James, in Peachtree City, Ga. Also attending will be the other children, John David and his wife Brenda, of Ormond Beach, Fla., Sheila Gallant Aitken of Peachtree City, Nancy Gallant and her husband George Gardner, of Crofton, Md., Mary Ellen Gallant Obreiter and her husband, William, of Orr's Island, Maine, Kathleen Gallant Baril of Exeter, N.H., and Virginia Gallant Toland and her husband, Daniel of Hooksett, N.H.

    Mrs. Guay, a native of Methuen is the former Pauline T. Hamel and is retired from the Internal Revenue Service. Her husband, a native of Methuen, is retired from The Gillette Company.

    The couple, both Haverhill natives and graduates of Haverhill High School, Class of 1941, were married on March 21, 1942 in Haverhill.

    Local man, PVT Justin James Isaac, 18, of Haverhill, graduated from United States Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island on 1-13-2012. PVT Isaac successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training at MCRD Parris Island as one of the 67 recruits in Training Platoon 3005.

    Eunice Donovan Cunningham celebrated her 95th Birthday at an intimate dinner party with her family at the Hart House in Ipswich, MA.
    Eunice, formally of Lawrence, MA, now resides in Topsfield, MA with her daughter Judy and her husband Skip Forrest. Eunice has three daughters, Judy Forrest of Topsfield, Nancy Perrault of Methuen and Susan Perusse of Methuen. She also has six grandchildren who idealize her; Lt. Col. Martin Forrest of North Carolina, Brendan Forrest of Wakefield, MA, Capt. Patrick Forrest of North Carolina, Jillian Perrault of Methuen, and Nicole & Renee Perusse, both of Methuen.
