World War II veteran Morely Piper of Essex, left, receives a bottle of French wine during the 50th anniversary celebration of the Normandy invasion from Dick Gerrish of Kingston, N.H. Piper was a member of the 29th Infrantry Division who landed on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944. The presentation was made at The Eagle-Tribune offices on Friday morning during North of Boston Media Group's "Salute to Veterans' book release party, for which Piper was the keynote speaker.
