The roaring sound of the flames woke Fernando Landor, 17, of Springfield Street. "I looked out my bedroom window only to see a wall of flames engulfing the buildings down the street." The seven-alarm fire in Lawrence destroyed buildings on Springfield, Parker and Market streets, leaving dozens of people homeless. At least 12 fire crews from surrounding communities helped the Lawrence Fire Department battle the massive blaze, which broke out after 2:30 a.m.
