Lantigua announces bid for 2nd term

LAWRENCE - Mayor William Lantigua announced tonight he will make a run for a second term.

Lantigua made the announcement during a gathering of supporters at Rio's Restaurant at 9 Appleton St.

On his Facebook page yesterday, Lantigua asked his supporters to attend tonight's event to help him make up his mind about whether he should seek another term.

"Three years have passed and we have achieved much, but still much work to do," he wrote in Spanish. "Again I need your opinion," he wrote. "I need your opinion to decide if I should or not...continue as your mayor. "I value your opinion. Before making important decisions, I always consult with my people,: he wrote.

About 100 people attended tonight's event.
