Ninevah provincial governor Atheel al-Nujaifi speaks to the media during a press conference in Irbil, 350 kilometers (217 miles) north of Baghdad, Iraq, Wednesday, June 11, 2014. Iraqi authorities are determined to recapture the northern city of Mosul after most of it was overrun by al-Qaida-inspired militants, the provincial governor said Wednesday after he fled the city along with half a million other residents.
