The Lawrence City Council recently honored students from the Community Day Charter Public School by presenting them certificates of appreciation for their achievement in a Boston scholastic art and writing awards competition. Lawrence City Councilor, Danny Rivera, left, presented the certificates on behalf of the council. The winning students are from left, first row: Marques Mendoza, eighth-grader, honorable mention in poetry; Khalyl Negron, seventh-grader, gold key in poetry and Joannie Molina, eighth-grader, silver key in flash fiction.
