Jan. 21: With his team trailing 28-6, Marionel Garcia posted an upset win at 182, starting a stretch of six straight wins for defending Division 1 state dual meet champion Lawrence, which beat Division 2 champ North Andover, 30-28.
Jan. 23: Northern Essex basketball star Kyle Davis began serving a six-month jail sentence after pleading guilty to distributing marijuana.
Jan. 25: Brendan Varney led a sweep of the 600 to lift North Andover past Newburyport, 45-41, and snap the Clippers’ 26-meet win streak. The win also clinched a share of the CAL title which the Knights later won outright.
Jan. 28: Julia Mehlman won the dash and high jump as North Andover shaded Masconomet, 45-41, to finish 10-0.
