January 30, 2013 - Bruce Ahern of Lawrence claimed a $1 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery's $5 instant game "Black Pearls." He is the sixth player to claim a grand prize in the game. There are four $1 million prizes remaining. Ahern selected the cash option on the prize and received a one-time lump sum payment of $650,000, less taxes. He plans to buy a car, pay bills, and help out his family with the winnings. Ahern purchased the winning "Black Pearls" ticket at Route 110 Convenience located at 196 East Street in Methuen. The store will receive a $10,000 commission on the sale.
