Donation will help Habitat rebuild in Lawrence

LAWRENCE — Habitat for Humanity has another $5,000 to help it rebuild two South Lawrence homes that were destroyed by a fire Jan. 21, thanks to the fundraising efforts of Big City Bar and Grill on Merrimack Street and its owner Jim Sarcione.

People paid $20 each to enjoy a buffet-style dinner and music by five bands — Ski & 99er's, Anna Fair, Plugg, Baked Naked and Ript, all of who donated their time on Feb. 16.

Ticketholders received T-shirts donated by Prime Time Sports and APex Advertising, both of Reading. The shirts listed the names of businesses that donated money to the event. Others businesses gave items, which were raffled through the evening.

Mayor Michael Sullivan was among the guests and helped out at the event by calling the raffles.

Event organizers were Jenn Hechemy-Little, Emily and Steve Duchesne and Pina Russo.
