Man charged in indecent assault and battery case

LAWRENCE — A city man was charged with indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or older after a 17-year-old girl told police he ran his hand up her leg.

Mariano Liriano, 52, of 98 Salem St., was arrested at his home after the alleged incident.

The victim told Officer Angel Lopez that Liriano placed his right hand on her knees and started to caress her legs while moving his hand higher, police said.

She said she asked Liriano to stop and bring her home, which he did. She called 911.

The victim and Liriano are known to one another, police said.

The incident took place about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
