NH woman uninjured after train strikes car

ROCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Police say a woman stopped her car too close to railroad tracks but was not injured when the train hit the front end of the vehicle.

Foster’s Daily Democrat reports that 87-year-old Virginia Varney of Rochester stopped for an approaching train Wednesday morning.

The train’s conductor tried to stop but the train hit the front corner on the driver’s side of the 2005 Chevrolet Malibu.

The Northcoast train was not damaged.

Varney was not ticketed.
