LACONIA, N.H. (AP) — The lead singer in a popular New Hampshire country music band is scheduled to be arraigned on a charge of aggravated felony sexual assault on a minor.
Eric Grant, 41, of Sanbornton, is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Laconia district court. He denies the allegation.
The Citizen of Laconia says Grant is the frontman for the Eric Grant Band, which is popular in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region.
He was indicted last month for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl on Dec. 31, 2006, at an undisclosed location in Gifford. A trial is scheduled for September.
In a statement through his attorney, Grant said he owes it to his friends, family and fans “to defend myself as forcefully and quickly as possible.”
