Police officer wounded and suspect dead
BOSTON (AP) — One man is dead and a Boston police is nursing a gunshot wound after exchanging gunfire in the city’s Dorchester neighborhood.
Boston Police spokeswoman Nicole Grant says the shooting occurred Saturday afternoon. The incident began with officers talking to two people. One man pushed an officer and both suspects began to run, with one of the men opening fire on police.
Grant says a bullet hit an officer in the arm and police returned fire, fatally wounding one of the men fleeing the scene.
Investigators are questioning the surviving suspect. The stricken officer suffered a non-life-threatening injury.
Police did not immediately release the names of the officer or those of the dead suspect and the one being questioned.
The shooting occurred near the intersection of Geneva Avenue and Westville Street.
NH Police: 2 killed in I-89 crash in Lebanon
LEBANON, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire State Police say two people have been killed in a crash on Interstate 89 in Lebanon. The victims’ names have not been released.
Police say it appears that a driver traveling south on Saturday lost control and crossed center median into the northbound lane, hitting another vehicle.
The right travel lane was been closed for several hours.
Car crashes into building, kills driver
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Police say a Waltham man is dead after his vehicle left the road, went through a fence and crashed into a building in Cambridge, trapping the seriously injured driver.
State police say in a statement released Saturday that investigators are trying to figure out why the car crashed into a house on Concord Turnpike Friday night.
Authorities say 40-year-old Theodore Ohene-Addo, of Waltham, was seriously injured and was trapped in the heavily-damaged car. He was alone in the vehicle and was taken to Mount Auburn Hospital, where physicians later pronounced him dead.
