---- — REVERE, Mass. (AP) — An 18-year-old charged with repeatedly pretending to be a police officer is held on $50,000 cash bail.
Sandro Anaya pleaded not guilty yesterday in Chelsea District Court to charges including impersonating an officer, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, and carrying a dangerous weapon.
State police say they arrested him Thursday after he failed to show up for a Monday arraignment following a weekend arrest in Revere. Prosecutors said Anaya had a gold badge, handcuffs, a baton, a BB gun and a dash-mounted emergency light when he was stopped Saturday in a stolen pickup truck.
Revere police say Anaya allegedly approached youths at night, pretending to be an officer, and then stole wallets and backpacks.
Prosecutors say he’s on probation after convictions on charges including armed robbery and assault for incidents in East Boston, Chelsea, and Revere.
