Boston man faces drug charges in Maine

YARMOUTH, Maine — Police have arrested a Massachusetts man they say was bringing heroin into Maine.

Police said a month-long investigation led to the arrest this week of 25-year-old Alex Santiago of Boston.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says Santiago was arrested Thursday in a parking lot on U.S. Route 1 in Yarmouth as he delivered 10 grams of heroin worth $3,000 to an undercover agent.

Police say Santiago was part of a group of Massachusetts men who distributed drugs in Cumberland and Sagadahoc countries.

Santiago is being held on $15,000 bail on a charge of aggravated trafficking in drugs. It was unclear if he had a lawyer.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
