Man badly injured in Derry dirt bike accident

DERRY, N.H. -- A man was seriously injured in a dirt bike accident this morning in the woods off Warner

Hill Road.

The man was thrown from his bike after it hit a tree just before 11 a.m., according to police and fire officials. He was transported from the scene to Parkland Medical Center in Derry, where he was taken by Medflight helicopter to a Boston hospital.

His name and condition were not immediately known.

Police said the man, who was in his early 20s, was riding eastbound on an abandoned rail bed known as the Rockingham Trail, about a quarter of a mile from Warner Hill Road, when his Suzuki 125 dirt bike hit a tree. The bike went down an embankment, and into Ballard Pond.
