UPDATE: Alcohol and speed may be factor in fatal 213 roll over

METHUEN — State Police believe alcohol and speed may have been a factor in an early morning roll over on Route 213 early this morning in which one woman was killed and another seriously injured.

State Police said Maria Bonet, 23, of Boston, a passenger in the SUV, was pronounced dead at Lawrence General Hospital. The driver, Jara Li Bonet, 24, of Haverhill, was transported to Lawrence General Hospital, and then flown to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

State Police said in a statement this morning that they would not comment on familial relationships.

State Police troopers responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash on Route 213 eastbound between exits 2 and 3 around 1:45 a.m. Troopers found a 2006 Infinity FX sports utility vehicle had rolled over and ejected both women inside.

"At this time there is no definitive cause of the crash but alcohol and speed appear to have been factors in the crash," State Police said in a statement this morning. "As of this release no charges have filed."

The crash remains under investigation by Troop A of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, State Police said. Troopers were assisted at the scene by Methuen Police and Fire Departments. Route 213 eastbound was initially closed for approximately 30 minutes to allow for rescue operations and again for approximately 90 minutes to allow for collision analysis and reconstruction to document the crash.

The SUV was towed by Trombly Brothers of North Andover.
