Woman found dead at Salem motel

SALEM, N.H. — Police are reporting a death earlier today at a local motel, possibly a drug overdose.

Police and fire personnel went to the Red Roof Inn just before 2:30 this morning and forced their way into a room.

A 28-year-old woman was found unresponsive and efforts to revive her failed, Deputy police Chief Shawn Patten said.

Her body was removed at 6 a.m.

Detectives found what appeared to be heroin and drug paraphernalia at the scene, Patten said.

The case is under investigation.

The victim's name is not being released at this time.
