BREAKING UPDATE: 3-alarm Haverhill fire draws firefighters from throughout the region

HAVERHILL — Firefighters from several area communities are responding to the three-alarm fire on Forest Acres Drive in the Bradford section of Haverhill, off Route 125 across from the Academy Lanes bowling complex.

The Lawrence Fire Department was sending mutal aid to Haverhill. Ladder trucks were being sent to the scene from the Georgetown Fire Department and Salem, N.H. Firefighters from Haverhill's Rocks Village volunteer station were being called in as well. The Merrimac department was sending a pumper truck. Amesbury firefighters also responded and were staffing Haverhill stations.

Several firefighters from those communities were being sent to cover Haverhill fire stations.   

Callers to the paper report heavy smoke. Scanner reports indicate at least one person may be injured.

The Forest Acres buildings are all three stories and covered on the outside with cedar shingles and wood framed roofs. Each building has six to eight apartment units.
