METHUEN — A second teen has been arrested in today's Methuen High stabbing.
Justin Suriel, 18, 186 Tenney St., Methuen, and Leivi Jose Cruzetta, 19, of 7 Moison Ave., Methuen are both charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery.
Both are being held on $50,000 cash bail, they were to be transferred to the Essex County Jail in Middleton where they will be held pending arraignment tomorrow in Lawrence District Court.
A senior at the high school was jumped in the parking lot of the high school and stabbed by a former student during the fight, police said.
Dogs were brought in to help search for the attackers and the State Police helicopter was also brought in.
Two students, who said they witnessed the attack, told The Eagle-Tribune the victim was jumped by three other young men in the parking lot of the high school.
They said the victim fought back, but was pinned against a car by the attackers and stabbed by one of them in the buttocks. They said the attackers fled into nearby woods.
The students said they know the victim and that he is a senior at the high school, but that they didn't know the attackers.
Police Lt. Kevin Mahoney confirmed that the alleged stabber has been identified as a former student at the high school. He said they were trying to determine the identifications of at least two other students.
Mahoney confirmed it is believed the victim was stabbed in the buttocks; that he was taken to Holy Family Hospital and that the wound was not life threatening.
