Pinkerton teacher charged with assaulting female student

DERRY — A Pinkerton Academy teacher has been charged with five counts of simple assault for allegedly touching a female student in his classroom.

David Howes, 62, of Windham turned himself in to Derry police this afternoon on the five misdemeanor charges, Capt. Vern Thomas said.

Howes, a building construction teacher, allegedly touched a 15-year-old student inappropriately after school in his classroom, police said.

Pinkerton Academy spokesman Chip Underhill said Howes is no longer employed by the school.

Howes was released on $10,000 personal recognizance and is scheduled to be arraigned June 19 in 10th Circuit Court in Derry.
