Salisbury probe linked to discovery of burnt body parts in Hyde Park, Bridgewater

SALISBURY — Three law enforcement officials confirmed that Friday's search of a murder suspect's Liberty Street residence is related to the recent gruesome discovery of burned body parts in Boston and Bridgewater.

The charred body parts, which are believed to belong to one victim, were found inside a barrel located on property owned by Bridgewater State Prison on Wednesday night. Thursday morning, more burned body parts were found behind a Hyde Park building. Suffolk County and Plymouth County officials are looking into both discoveries and it has been reported in other publications that video surveillance have given investigators crucial evidence.

An Essex County District Attorney's office spokeswoman declined to comment on the connection saying her office wasn't in a position to discuss the matter.

"We are in the midst of a fluid criminal investigation," Essex County District Attorney spokeswoman Carrie Kimball-Monahan said, adding she would not comment on the identity of the man living inside the beach house.

The three law enforcement sources told The Daily News of Newburyport that police are looking into the possibility that the victim, whose identity has not been released, was killed at the Liberty Street house, dismembered and then brought to the Hyde Park and Bridgewater locations.

Liberty Street, located just off North End Boulevard (Route 1A) was scene of a police operation Friday when more than a dozen state police officers swarmed a three-story beach house hoping to arrest a local man wanted for murder, according to state police.

Police activity began around 6 p.m. when police, armed with an arrest warrant, visited 19 Liberty St. The suspect was not there, prompting local and state police to obtain a search warrant for the premises. With search warrant in hand, more than a dozen police officers entered the house before midnight, and remained there throughout most of the night, gathering evidence.
