Fire rips through Haverhill building, but no one inside, police say

HAVERHILL — Fire ripped through a building on South Main Street near the Bradford Fire Station early this morning, but it appeared no one was hurt.

Police said a fire broke out at 471 S. Main St., nearly across the street from the fire station around 1 a.m.

The Fire Department called in mutual aid from other communities. That means firefighters from other cities and towns covered Haverhill's fire stations while Haverhill firefighters worked at the scene of the blaze.

Police said it appeared no one was in the building during the time of the fire.

A more detailed report will appear in Wednesday's edition of The Eagle-Tribune.
