Murder, suicide victims identified

SALEM — Jeffrey Kaznecki, 50, shot his wife Barbara, 51, and mother Shirley Leary, 85, in the head, then turned the gun on himself, according to a statement from state and local officials released minutes ago.

Jeffrey Kaznecki's body was spotted by a motorist driving past 33 Wheeler Ave. just before noon yesterday.

When police arrived, they found his body in the driveway outside the two-story home, then discovered his wife and mother inside the home. One woman was still alive, but died en route to Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. The family's dog also had been fatally shot.

Autopsies were conducted yesterday on all three and the conclusion was all three died of gunshot wounds to the head.

The investigation is ongoing.
