Methuen man gets 13-30 years for sex assaults

BRENTWOOD — The co-owner of a Windham daycare center will spend 13 to 30 years in prison for sexually assaulting a young girl for several years.

Louis Himber, 45, of Methuen was sentenced this afternoon by Judge Marguerite Wageling in Rockingham Superior Court after pleading guilty to the assaults in May.

An additional 15 to 30 years were suspended under a plea agreement.

Himber was an "investor" in Kiddie Academy and did not work there, defense attorney Mark Howard has said. The victim did not attend the center.

Himber assaulted the girl at his former Londonderry home on numerous occasions between March 2004 and March 2011, beginning when she was about 6 years old, according to Assistant County Attorney Patricia Conway. The girl is now in her early teens.

He faced nine counts of aggravated felonious assault, each punishable by 10 to 30 years in prison. He also was charged with single counts of simple assault and second-degree assault.

Himber, arrested in April 2011, had been free on $50,000 cash bail until asking to be incarcerated this spring to receive credit for time served before his sentencing.
