One person injured, flown from accident scene on Route 125 in Andover

ANDOVER — One person was seriously injured when their car hit a bridge abutment of the Route 28 overpass at Route 125 northbound today around 2 p.m.

Firefighters from Andover used the Jaws of Life to cut the driver out of the vehicle. His injuries were deemed serious enough to bring in a Medflight helicopter, which landed on the ramp from Route 28 to 125 at about 2:40 p.m.

The ramp was shut down and other roads in the area were blocked while the helicopter took the victim from the scene.

The name of the driver was not available and the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
