Haverhill police search for would-be armed robber

HAVERHILL — Police are searching for a man who attempted to rob the Tedeschi Food Mart on Dudley Street at approximately 6:25 this morning.

According to police, he approached the counter and pointed a black firearm at the clerk while demanding money. When the clerk was unable to open the register the suspect threatened to kill her and attempted to fire the weapon. It appears that the weapon jammed.

He is described as a white male, 20 to 25 years old, with black curly hair. He was last seen wearing a blue hoodie, gray jeans and a white mask, running up Dudley Street.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Haverhill Detectives at 373-1212. Tips may also be left at this number.
