UPDATE: Restoring water to some Haverhill homes to take 10-12 hours

HAVERHILL — A water main break in Lafayette Square has left many Haverhill residents without water today.

Representatives from the city's water and wastewater division said the main break happened around 9:30 a.m. The cause of the break is unknown.

According to a post on Mayor James Fiorentini's Facebook page this morning, he expects repairs to take 10 to 12 hours.

Traffic is closed on Winter Street between Hale Street and Lafayette Square. Workers from the Water Department are on the scene, working in front of the entrance of Haffner's gas station.
