Firefighters combat 2-alarm blaze in house on Prospect St., Methuen

METHUEN — Fire broke out in a single-family home at 510 Prospect St. around 2:30 today.

Despite an aggressive attack by firefighters, the fire appears to have gone from the first floor, into the second floor and into the attic of the 2-1/2-story dwelling. When firefighters arrived, flames were coming out the first floor windows.

Firefighters were cutting a hole in the roof at around 2:50 p.m.

There are no reported injuries.

Firefighting efforts continue.
