Golnik declares victory in congressional primary

WESTFORD -- Jon Golnik has declared victory over Tom Weaver in today's Republican primary in the 3rd Congressional District.

Golnik, 47, of Carlisle, moves on to the Nov. 6 general election. He'll face incumbent U.S. Rep. Niki Tsongas, D-Lowell, in what will be a rematch of the 2010 mid-term election.

Golnik declared victory moments ago inside his Westford campaign headquarters.

The 3rd Congressional District represents Lawrence, Haverhill, Methuen, Andover and 33 other Massachusetts communities.

Weaver, 60, is from Westford.
