Drivers in fatal crash identified

SALEM - Police have identified the victim of the fatal crash on Route 111 yesterday morning as Laurel Fleet, 58, of Salem.

Fleet was killed when her Mazda 6 crossed the center line at about 10:45 a.m. near Autumn Woods.

She drove head on into the path of a tractor-trailer driven by Jeremiah Clark, 35, of Allenstown, who was not injured in the crash.

Police said there was no indication Clark was impaired, nor that there was anything mechanically wrong with his truck. The investigation shows Clark did try to take evasive action.

The Salem Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is continuing its investigation.

The horrific crash closed Route 111 in that area through the evening yesterday.

Fleet's car ended up in a ravine off the roadway and rescue crews had to work for some time to extricate her from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
