Danville standoff ends peacefully

DANVILLE - A lengthy standoff between more than two dozen N.H. State Police and Danville officers and a resident of a mobile home park near the Danville-Sandown town line ended peacefully about 6:30 p.m.

State police Lt. Gary Wood said Eric Labarge, 35, is being charged with felonious aggravated assault, with other charges possible.

The standoff followed an alleged assault on Interstate 93 South in Londonderry this morning. Police said Labarge assaulted his girlfriend on the highway, forced her from the car and took off.

He was found around noon in a mobile home at 13 Christian St. in Cotton Farm Village, a park that extends into both towns.

The woman was taken to Parkland Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries, according to state police.

An alert was issued for Labarge and police arrived at the mobile home park at around noon, he said. Labarge lives in the park, too, at 19 Wesley St.

Neighbors said he came to the door of the home on Christian Street with a basket of laundry and asked if he could nap there.

Police were unsuccessful in communicating with him until about 6 this evening.

Several homes in the area were evacuated and neighbors stood outside for hours. Residents have been allowed to return home.

A state police SWAT team ws also on the scene.
