Propane leak leads to evacuation in Londonderry

LONDONDERRY — Fire departments from many communities are assisting Londonderry Fire Department on Winding Pond Road, the scene of a propane leak.

Residents have been evacuated from five townhouses nearby.

A propane tank estimated to be about 500 gallons is leaking. Firefighters are using tankers to fill the tank with water to disperse the propane.

The road is closed in the area of 382 Winding Pond Road until firefighters have resolved the problem.

Fire Chief Kevin McCaffrey said at 10:30 a.m. the scene should be secure very shortly.
