Truck rollover, 93N near Route 62, Wilmington, blocks 3 lanes of traffic

WILMINGTON — An 18-wheeler rolled over on Interstate-93 North just prior to Route 62/Exit 40 around 11 a.m., blocking three lanes of traffic and possibly injuring the driver.

Traffic is backed up for miles. The Mass. Department of Transportation has alerted northbound drivers using portable signs to seek alternate routes.

According to a statement from State Police, the operator of the truck has sustained some injuries and needs to be extricated from the cab. The extent of the injuries are not entirely known but not expected to be fatal, the statement said.

Troopers from the State Police Barracks in Andover, along with the Mass. DOT officials and members of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section are responding.

Three lanes and the breakdown lane have been closed. The far left lane is getting by. The truck reportedly was carrying trash, which has been strewn across the road.

Traffic will be affected for some time and alternate routes are advised, the State Police said. The length of time for the closure is unknown.
