Lawrence police take three into custody

11:10 p.m. UPDATE: Police say that the robbers tried to exit the store from the back, but it was padlocked. Apparently they tried to shoot out the lock but were unsuccessful.

11:05 p.m. UPDATE: LPD originally called for an ambulance for a female victim. This was an employee of the convenience store, who was found uninjured inside the store's freezer.

LAWRENCE — Police arrested three men and were looking for another suspect in a getaway car tonight after an armed robbery of the South Union Market at 280 S. Union St.

The owner hit the alarm and he and his wife ran out.

One employee was still inside the store with three robbers who eventually surrendered after Lawrence police, joined by state police and other area police departments converged at the scene.
