UPDATED: 2 missing Florida children found in Lawrence

LAWRENCE - A Florida mother hid two of her kids in Lawrence for the last six months to avoid having them away by the state, police said.

Jessica Roberts, 26, of Kissimmee, Fla. was reported missing Jan. 14 along with her three children: 7-month-old Lyric Vasquez, 3-year-old Angelise Vasquez, and 4-year-old Gabriel Vasquez.

Last night Lawrence police found Lyric and Gabriel with relatives of the children's father Gabriel Vasquez. Angelise was found with family in Worcester. All three were reported in good health.

Roberts appeared in Florida court Friday and "reluctantly" admitted she had sent her children to Massachusetts to avoid losing them to state custody, according to police reports.

The children's father Gabriel Vasquez' last known addresses are in Lawrence and Worcester. Family members who were caring for the children said they have not seen Vasquez since Saturday. He is wanted in Florida on a robbery default warrant.
