HAVERHILL — The American Legion, Wilbur M. Comeau Post 4, honored Haverhill Bank for the bank’s donation and support of the American Legion’s Veterans Day celebration. John Kazarosian, Post 4 treasurer, presented Haverhill Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Thomas Mortimer with a certificate of appreciation. “In recognition and sincere appreciation of outstanding service and assistance which contributed to the advancement of the American Legion programs and activities.”

MANCHESTER — Regina McCarthy of Methuen, assistant dean of academic student services at UNH Manchester, was the recipient of the 2013 UNH Social Justice Award.

McCarthy is a social justice educator for the university, a member of UNH Manchester’s Student Veteran Advocacy Team, and the founder and member of the college’s Diversity and Inclusive Excellence Committee. She also serves as a representative to the University Council for Inclusive Excellence and Equity and is a member of the statewide groups The NH Inclusive Learning Communities and the NH Multicultural Student Affairs Consortium. In 2012, McCarthy was also elected to serve a second two-year term as president of the Learning Assistance Association of New England.

ANDOVER — The Rev. Peter Gori, OSA, JCD, pastor of St. Augustine Parish in Andover, has been elected to the Board of Trustees of Villanova University in Villanova, Pa. Father Gori was one of four new members to join the university’s 34-member board, effective Jan. 1.

A private practice Canonist, Fr. Gori has served as a member of the Metropolitan Tribunal of the Archdiocese of Boston since 1989. He also sits on the Presbyteral Council, Archdiocese of Boston and is UNICO’s Chaplain. Fr. Gori has been actively involved on the Boards of the Steward Health Care System, currently serving as a trustee/director of Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, and is a member of the Board of Directors of Lazarus House Ministries in Lawrence. Following his ordination as an Augustinian priest in 1979, Fr. Gori became the parochial vicar of St. Nicholas of Tolentine Parish in Jamaica, N.Y. He subsequently served as parochial vicar, St. Augustine Parish, Andover; pastor, St. Augustine Parish, Lawrence,; founding pastor, Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Methuen; and chaplain of the Presentation of Mary Sisters, Methuen. Fr. Gori lives in Andover.
