Dr. Donald Ganim II, a 1981 graduate of Central Catholic High School, was recently elected to serve a one-year term as president of the Massachusetts Society of Anesthesiologists. A former resident of Methuen and 1985 graduate of Holy Cross College, Ganim attended medical school at Robert Wood Johnson in New Jersey. He completed his anesthesia residency at the Brigham & Women's Hospital.
He serves as chief of anesthesia at Northeast Health Systems which includes Beverly Hospital, Addison Gilbert Hospital, and the Surgery Day Care Center of Beverly Hospital in Danvers.

Mike's Garage in Haverhill recently announced the grand opening of its custom muffler distributorship. The focal point of the dealership is a pipe-bending machine. Tail pipes can be fashioned for various configurations. In addition to exhaust, Mike's Garage also provides electrical repairs, towing, tires, air conditioning and is a full-service gas station.

Merrimack Valley Federal Credit Union raised more than $45,000 this year for local Merrimack Valley charities. The credit union has been raising money for local charities for more than seven years. Each year, the amount raised has grown, and this year was the most money raised to date.
Two local charities were presented with donations at the recent grand opening of the credit union's new corporate headquarters, 500 Merrimack St. in Lawrence. Peter Matthews Jr., president and CEO of MVFCU, presented the Emmaus House of Haverhill with a check for $30,000 and the Merrimack Valley YMCA with a check for $15,000 during the ceremony.

The Lawrence Rotary Club held its annual golf tournament recently at the Haverhill Country Club. The event was named the "Mayor's Cup," with the support of (former Rotarian) Lawrence Mayor Mike Sullivan. Golf was followed by cocktails and hors d'oeuvres on the deck. The Club raised close to $13,000 which will be used in the annual Community Service and Scholarship programs. There were 94 golfers, with 40 Lawrence Rotarians participating.

The new company will specialize in valuation of privately held business entities, producing certified appraisals for ownership transitions, shareholder dispute resolution, divorce settlement, ESOP and tax matters.
Pereira is a certified business intermediary with the International Business Brokers Association and a member of the Institute of Business Appraisers. Pereira is also an adjunct professor of finance at Southern New Hampshire University, where he teaches degree credited business courses in finance, including business valuation.
