SALEM, N.H. — The theme of the Salem Christmas Parade is "Christmas for Our Troops." The Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce is participating in the parade and has developed several ways for its members to be a part of the festivities and provide support for the troops. In addition, GSCC has begun collecting items for the troops, including food items, toiletries and personal items. Collection bins have been placed in various locations, including: the Chamber of Commerce, Burlington Self Storage, Pentucket Bank in Salem, USA Subs, Woof Woof Doggie Daycare, Salem Co-operative Bank and Kendall Pond Pizza. For a complete list, visit www.gschamber.com.
GSCC will be working with local military recruitment centers, the N.H. National Guard and local business owners to develop a list of currently deployed servicemen and servicewomen from the Greater Salem area. Families in the immediate area who have family members, friends or co-workers currently serving overseas are encouraged to call or e-mail with their name, address and troop information. Every effort will be made to send items to each individual. To participate in the 2008 Christmas Parade, or to host a collection bin, call 603-893-3177 or e-mail Stacey@gschamber.com.
