---- — Regional pump prices dropped by about two pennies per gallon last week, making it the fifth straight week of gas-price relief, according to service-station tracking by the auto club AAA.
The overall national average price of gasoline also dipped lower for the fifth consecutive week last week, AAA found.
The group reported a Massachusetts state-wide average of $3.653 per gallon for self-service regular on Wednesday. That was 2.0 cents lower than the prior Wednesday’s figure of $3.673. On the same day of 2012, the Bay State average of $3.839 was 18.6 cents higher than Wednesday’s level.
The New Hampshire average for self-service regular dropped 2.1 cents, reaching $3.606 on Wednesday from $3.627 the prior week. On the same day last year, the state average of $3.799 was 19.3 cents higher than Wednesday’s figure.
Nationally, the coast-to-coast average inched 1.0 cents lower over the seven-day span, to $3.640 on Wednesday compared to $3.650 seven days earlier. The overall U.S. average of $3.923 on the same day of 2012 was 28.3 cents higher than Wednesday’s level.
