WALTHAM — Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Cares, the charitable foundation of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in New England, has raised over $100,000 for Homes for Our Troops. The funds were raised during the ninth annual Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Cares Spirit of Home Awards Celebration held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston. More than 300 real estate professionals from throughout New England, as well as business and community leaders, gathered for the event which featured live and silent auctions. Homes for Our Troops is a nonprofit organization based in Taunton that builds specially adapted homes for veterans who have suffered life-altering injuries during their service. The organization has built 165 homes throughout the country for veterans and their families. During the celebration, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Cares presented the Community Cares Spirit Award to Marine Sergeant Adam Kisielewski of Maryland who lost an arm and leg during his latest tour of duty in Iraq. The Community Cares Spirit Award recognizes the unsung heroes from within Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Cares charitable partners who, through their incredible spirit and ongoing commitment and determination succeed through difficult odds. Also honored was Ret. Major General Timothy McHale, president and CEO of Homes for Our Troops, who received the Spirit of Home Award. The Spirit of Home Award recognizes individuals who through their professional and public stature have played significant roles in raising local and national awareness surrounding the issues of homelessness, and access to important home-based services. Pat Villani and other guests, including Miss Massachusetts USA 2014 Caroline Lunny and City of Boston Veterans’ Services Department Commissioner Francisco Urena, were entertained by guest auctioneer Jim Wells, who manages the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Hingham office.
