BILLERICA — The Northeast Association of Realtors (NEAR) Community Service Committee is sponsoring a food drive to benefit the Merrimack Valley Food Bank. Collection trucks will be at Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 257 Boston Road in North Billerica on Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to noon. The NEAR Community Service Committee is dedicated to assisting individuals and groups in the Merrimack and Nashoba Valleys who are in need. Local charitable organizations helped by the group in the past year include: Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell, Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence, Community Teamwork, D’Youville Foundation, Eagle-Tribune Santa Fund, Girls Inc. of Greater Lowell, House of Hope, Lawrence Community Works-Our House for Design, Habitat for Humanity, Lazarus House, Lowell Transitional Living Center, Lowell Wish Project, Merrimack Valley Food Bank, Place of Promise, St. Ann’s Home Inc., The Salvation Army, Up with People, the Moody School and the Lincoln School, both in Lowell, and the Leahy School in Lawrence.

NEAR officially covers 15 cities and towns from Boxford to Littleton including Lowell and Lawrence, and also has member offices in more than 50 cities and towns throughout the Merrimack and Nashoba Valleys as well as southern New Hampshire.
