---- — Regional and national pump prices declined last week, according to filling-station averages compiled by the auto club AAA. Decreases of close to 3 cents per gallon made last week the second straight week of easing prices across Massachusetts and New Hampshire. It was the third consecutive week in which the overall national average dipped.

Regional and national averages were nearly even with price levels at the same, mid-January mark last year.

The Massachusetts average for self-service regular gas dropped to $3.479 on Wednesday, 2.5 cents lower than the prior Wednesday’s figure of $3.504, AAA reported. On the same day of 2013, the Bay State average of $3.477 was 0.2 cents below Wednesday’s figure.

The New Hampshire average dropped 2.9 cents, reaching $3.393 on Wednesday from $3.422 seven days earlier, according to the auto club. Wednesday’s figure was 2.6 cents below the Granite State average of $3.419 on the same day last year.

AAA recorded a scant 0.4-cent decline for the U.S. 50-state average during the seven-day period. On Wednesday the group published a national average of $3.306, compared to $3.310 one week earlier. Wednesday’s U.S. average was 0.9 cents higher than the $3.297 recorded on the same day of 2013.
