---- — ANDOVER — Sal Polizzotti, a real estate sales professional in Andover, has joined the Keller Williams Realty Market Center.
Polizzotti has an extensive background in the Century 21 and RE/MAX Systems and has been in the real estate industry for 28 years. He is a member of the RE/MAX Hall of Fame and has been recognized for achievements in all facets of the business.
The Keller Williams Market Center, located at 138 River Road in Andover, was established in 2007 and has 55 associates.
MARLBOROUGH — John Downey, chief evangelist at Re/Max Prestige and director of Prestige Senior Living, will be a featured speaker at the New England 50+ Expo on Oct. 21, at the Royal Plaza Trade Center in Marlborough.

MERRIMACK & NASHOBA VALLEYS — The Northeast Association of REALTORS (NEAR) reports that the number of single family homes sold during the month of August in the 15 cities and towns from Boxford to Littleton increased compared to the same time last year for the eighth straight month. Single family home sales were up by 24.6 percent versus August of 2011. Condominium sales were flat compared to the previous year, with 122 condos sold in both August 2012 and 2011. The report is based on data from MLS Property Information Network in Shrewsbury.
The report also indicated that the median price for single family homes sold locally in August was $329,000, a 3.2 percent drop versus last August, and a 0.3 percent decline over July’s median price of $330,000. Additionally, condominiums sold in August posted a median sales price of $163,500 which represents an 11.6 percent decrease compared with last August and a 17.0 percent decrease versus July’s median price of $197,000.
The average length of time it took for a single family home to sell in August was 110 days, exactly the same number of days it took last August. For condominiums, it took an average of 105 days for those sold during August to close, a decrease of 10.3 percent compared with the average from last August of 117 days on the market.
Meanwhile, the number of pending sales, those now under agreement but not yet closed, for single family homes in the region during August rose by 7.2 percent compared with August of 2011, with the agreed-upon median price for those properties at $316,250, an increase of 9.1 percent versus last August. The number of pending sales for condominiums locally during the month was also up, rising by 6 percent versus last August to 124 contracts signed, with the median price down by 3.4 percent compared with last year, to $168,900.
The report also provided inventory levels of area homes for sale as of Sept. 15, which at 1,460 available single family homes and 526 condominiums have each dropped markedly below last year’s levels of 1,738 and 666 respectively. The inventory for both single family homes and condominiums locally also remains well below the peaks set in 2006 and 2007, which were 2,242 for single family homes and 1,251 for condos.
The Northeast Association of REALTORS is one of 1,500 local chapters of the National Association of REALTORS. Officially, NEAR covers 15 cities and towns from Boxford to Littleton, though it has members from more than 50 cities and towns in the Merrimack and Nashoba Valleys as well as southern New Hampshire.
LONDONDERRY — Linda McLaughlin, a sales associate in the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage office in Londonderry, has successfully completed SkillBuilder, a critical component of the comprehensive SuccessBuilder training program which is designed and conducted by the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Career and Educational Development department.
SkillBuilder involves 11 days of classroom-based sales training and skill development. As part of the course work, McLaughlin received specialized training in several areas including real estate market trends, techniques for marketing properties and managing the real estate transaction using innovative technology tools, negotiating strategies, buyer consultation, positioning and marketing strategy for seller clients and other topics and techniques important in the successful practice of real estate in today’s digital world.
SkillBuilder is the classroom component of SuccessBuilder, an intensive training program which also involves online learning sessions and industry specific field assignments. Sales associates who complete all three components of SuccessBuilder earn the Accredited Real Estate Professional designation. Designees must also meet specific production requirements, including the closing of three real estate transactions.
ANDOVER — RE/MAX Partners participated in Andover Days, coordinated by the Downtown Association, on Sept. 15. The RE/MAX office held a raffle for someone to win an iPad, with all monies raised from the sale of raffle tickets being donated to the Andover Youth Foundation. The winner of the iPad raffle was Donna Traverso of Methuen.
At an office meeting, RE/MAX Partners was able to present a check for $1,251 to the Andover Youth Foundation. They also had their RE/MAX hot air balloon, Big MAX, on the Doherty Middle School grounds. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate for the RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon and they were not able to give tethered rides. However, many of the people who came to see Big MAX were impressed and excited to see a hot air balloon up close.
HAVERHILL — Amy Shibles has joined RE/MAX Main Street Associates as a member of the sales team. Shibles brings to the office several years of experience in real estate and was formerly with Buyers Brokers Only, LLC. Shibles has a background as a carpenter and is also a licensed attorney. Her experience in building and the law have proven to be valuable resources in assisting both buyers and sellers.
