HAMPSTEAD — Renovations are nearly complete for a new day care and educational facility in Hampstead. Hazel Drive Early Childhood Center is ready for young students with the start of the new school year. The center has hours and programs to accommodate working parents and their children aged 2-6. HAVERHILL — Jeffrey Linehan, president and owner of Diversified Business Systems, a full service web and commercial printing company in Haverhill, has been appointed to the Northern Essex Community College board of trustees by Gov. Deval Patrick. Linehan has served on the Northern Essex Community College Foundation board of directors since 2004. He is a member of the Merrimack Valley Workforce Investment Board, the Exchange Club, and the Haverhill Chamber of Commerce board of directors.

NORTH ANDOVER — Deepa Ananthanarayanan, DMD, FAGD, of North Andover, received the Academy of General Dentistry's (AGD) 2010 Fellowship award during the AGD 2010 annual meeting and exhibits, held July 8-11 in New Orleans, La. To accomplish this goal, Ananthanarayanan completed 500 hours of continuing dental education, passed a comprehensive exam and fulfilled three years of continuous membership in the AGD. Ananthanarayanan graduated from Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine in May 1999 and currently practices dentistry in Methuen.

SALEM, N.H. — The Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce has named attorney Bernard Campbell of Beaumont and Campbell, Professional Association, this year's recipient of the William A. Brown Distinguished Businessperson Award. LAWRENCE — After almost two years in pre-construction, Eckman Construction of Bedford, is beginning work on the former Southwick Mill, in building No. 9 at 50 Island St., Lawrence. This will be the first phase of a mixed use development, known as Union Crossing, by Lawrence Community Works. When complete, the building will contain sixty apartments, a day care, commercial space, and several community spaces. The project owner is East Island Rentals, LLC, an affiliate of the nonprofit Lawrence Community Works. It was designed by Coldham and Hartman Architects, LLC of Amherst.
