Edward and Lois Mitchell

Edward and Lois (Barnes) Mitchell of Parkland, Fla., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Pompano Beach, Fla. on Nov. 4, 2007. They flew to London with family and friends for a transatlantic cruise aboard the Royal Caribbean's ship, Navigator of the Seas.

Ed met Lois at the Chez When nightclub in Lawrence shortly after he got out of the Navy.

Lois and her friends were waiting for the bus to take them back to Lowell where the girls were living.

They were married at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Lawrence on Nov. 16, 1957.

They are proud parents of five daughters and one son (deceased), eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ed and Lois came to Florida from Saudi Arabia in February 1991.

A graduate of Boston College and a financial advisor, Ed is president of Maranatha Value Mgt. Corp.
