Train, entertain your pets with these 3 smartphone apps

While they may not have thumbs to use the phone, pets can benefit from smartphone apps designed specifically for them.

Pet First Aid

You keep a first aid kit for the humans in your life, so why not the pets too? Pet First Aid keeps profiles of your pets, including vaccination information and ID numbers. It also includes articles on topics such as  basic first air procedures, dosages for poisoning and when to take your pet to the hospital.

The app is available for $3.99 from Apple and Android stores.

Games for Cats

Your phone can even be used to entertain a high-maintencance cat. Games for Cats is exactly what it sounds like. While the app is free, you can purchase more "games" within the app.

Load the app, put your phone or tablet on the floor and watch as your cat chases the "laser" or bats at the "fish" on the screen.

Presumably, the cats cannot buy new games by themselves.

The app is available for free from Apple and Android stores.

Clicker Training

A lesser-known app, but useful for those undertaking the task of training a dog with a "clicker." The phone manufactures the clicking sound, records your progress as you work on training and gives you training tips.

The app is available for $0.99 in the Apple store.
