24th annual Cycle for Shelter, beginning at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill. Cycle for Shelter, a fundraiser for Emmaus Inc., helps the nonprofit organization provide emergency shelter, long-term affordable housing and services to men, women and children. This year's event features four rides, including a 24-mile "weekend warrior" route for novice cyclists. Riders are asked to raise a minimum of $200. Registration fee is $85 until July 13, $100 on the day of the event, if space is available. Rain or shine. 978-241-3425, emmausinc.org.

Family Fun Ice Cream Social, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Riverside Memorial Church, 278 Groveland St., Haverhill. Includes basket raffles, face painting, children's games and prizes, baked goods, beverages, music, and sundaes provided by Friendly's Ice Cream in Haverhill. One pair of Red Sox tickets will also be raffled. Free admission. Donations are greatly appreciated. Held in memory of Karen Quadros, all proceeds will go to Karen's Krew for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Boston.
