The Methuen-Salem Rotary club, recently celebrated their annual installation of officers for 2013 at the Black Water Grill and Restaurant in Salem, N.H. Trudy Lawler, from Michaud Insurance Agency in Methuen, became the new president of the club while Cheryl Parent became the immediate past president, and Ed Sidon received the distinguished Rotarian of the Year Award. The Methuen-Salem Rotary Club meets at Jocelyn's Restaurant in Salem, N.H., on Fridays at 12:15 p.m. For more information, visit methuensalemrotary.org.

Regent Nancy DiLisio welcomes Jacqueline (Belcourt) Piazza, and her daughter, Susan Piazza both Lawrence residents, to the Col. Timothy Pickering chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Membership requires direct bloodline lineage with an ancestor who aided in America's independence. These two new members have traced their lineage to Capt. James Ford of Hudson, N.H., who fought at the Battle of Bunker Hill, amongst other battles. Piazza, a Vietnam veteran, carried on the family tradition of military service.

The Lawrence Ladies Lodge No. 2026, Order Sons of Italy in America, held their Scholarship Reception at St. Lucy's Parish Hall on May 23. Three students were honored and each received the Josephine I. Rizzo Scholarship of $1,500. The recipients were: Megan Forgetta of Methuen, who will attend the University of New England and major in marine biology; Cherie Lemay of Methuen, who will attend the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and major in pre-med; and Luke Chmielecki from North Andover, who will attend Boston University and major in biology. The scholarship awards are sponsored by the Service Center of Greater Lawrence Inc. Members of the Lodge and Service Center presented the awards and all present enjoyed an Italian buffet.
