Join the Jumpstart Merrimack Valley Community Corps, and make a difference in the lives of preschool children in Lawrence. Work in a classroom twice a week with a team of peers; earn a stipend or education award over $1,000; receive free training and professional development (leadership opportunities are available). The Methuen Garden Club, meets in the Garden Room of the Nevins Memorial Library, 305 Broadway in Methuen, on the first Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m., September through May, unless otherwise noted on the website. This nonprofit organization encourages an interest in all aspects of gardening, promotes civic beauty and the conservation of natural resources. Many meetings offer speakers and refreshments. Methuen residency is not required and there is no obligation to join on one’s first visit. Guests are always welcome. The Council for Timberlane Athletics, is partnering with Banks Chevrolet and raffling off a brand new 2014 Chevy Spark 1LS valued at $14,305. Tickets are $100 and there are 300 tickets being sold. All net proceeds will benefit all of the sports teams at Timberlane Regional High School. The drawing will be held on May 16. The winner does not need to be present to win. Pentucket Kiwanis Club of Haverhill, meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays at Maria’s Restaurant, 81 Essex St., Haverhill. Help support and give back to children in the local community. Kiwanis’ mission is to serve the children of the world, one child and one community at a time.
